A few announcements...No, I am not pregnant! :)

Announcement #1:
You have to look at the picture and see if you can figure it out...

YES!!! Alex and Colin are expecting their first child! I am so happy! She won't mind me saying, but they have been trying for a pretty good while and we are so happy that the little "strawberry" decided to make an appearance!


Announcement #2:
Most of you probaby saw it on my Facebook page, but... I AM EMPLOYED! Yes, I am super excited. As many of you know I finished my internship in May and graduated with my Masters in Elementary Education. After I finished I had a couple of interviews. I was called to interview for a brand new school in Montgomery... Wilson Elementary. I interviewed on a Wednesday and was called Friday by the principal, Jason Bigham. He offered me a position!! I am really, really excited and a little nervous. He hasn't "officially" placed anyone in a grade level... only "penciled" us in. I am penciled in for fourth grade. I have never taught fourth grade before so if you are out there and have any wonderful ideas OR stuff you want to get rid of...please pass them on!

As you can probably imagine I am very busy taking care of things around the house, trying to enjoy my summer, and spending money for my classroom! My internship teacher, Melissa Deaton, another first grade teacher from Halycon, Melissa Cleondis, and Meagan Griffin (a good friend of mine)are all teaching at Wilson too. That makes it all so much more excitng! Please pray for me as I start on this new journey!

Announcement #3:
David started swimming lessons!! We are doing "Mommy and Me" swimming lessons at Wynlakes Country Club. We are in a class with Emily Foy and her son Pearce, Rachel Harrison and her son Wren, Jenah Wilson and her daughter Sarah. It has been fun, and he has actually done very well. He loves the water and all he wants to do is put his face in it!

Announcement #4:
David turns ONE in 14 days! I can't believe it has been one year since he was born... and one year of me blogging! Funny how fast it goes by. I am working on the party... I will say to you loyal friends of mine who love us dearly, I am only having a family party and a few local, close friends that David sees often. I just felt like he can't really "play" right now with "all his friends" and trust me, he has a ton! ;) I think we will wait until the next birthdays to invite a "crowd." We are doing a simple party here, at our house. I will post pictures!

Surgery Day

Well, this morning we woke up sweet David and put him straight in his car seat. The poor thing was so confused! We had to be at the hospital at 6:30... so out the door we went. As soon as we got there they told us we could go ahead and take him back. A sweet nurse came in and brought us his "hospital gown." Here are some pictures of him during that time.



After we got him into his gown, she said she had to give him some "yucky" medicine and that we would probably pitch a fit. Nope, all he did was make this face...

Then she told us we would have to wait for the anesthesiologist (spelling?) to come get us. So, this is how we passed the time.

I wish I had some pictures of this... but I don't. Once they came to get us they told me that I could get up in the bed with him to hold him while we were in the "holding room." So, I climbed my large behind in the hospital bed and he layed on my chest facing out. They wheeled us down the halls and all the nurses and doctors were waving at him. He loved it! Then they placed us in the "holding room" and there were people everywhere! Honestly, if I had not been in hospitals so much throughout my life, as a mother, I would have been nervous. BUT... I have :) So, I wasn't nervous at all. I knew everything that was going on and even recognized some of the nurses and doctors.

After waiting and watching patients get doped up on anesthesia and saying all kinds of stuff, Dr. Cawthon came in. He was great. They explained everything to me and then I handed him off to the anesthesiologist...dog in hand and paci in mouth. I walked away and watched the doors close behind me.
I will say (and Matthew and I discussed this)... we were not worried at all about this surgery, but to let your baby go down a hallway without you truly breaks your heart. All I could think about are parents who have children in and out of hospitals all the time...for major issues. I said a prayer for all of those today. I just can't imagine having my sweet baby go through that. I know that God is in control and that if we were placed in that situation we could handle it... as many of our friends do, but I have a special place in my heart for those parents and their sweet children.

We were literally in the waiting room for ten minutes when they called to say the surgery was over. As we walked back Dr. Cawthon met us and told us that, basically, his ears were awful and on the verge of ANOTHER ear infection. Thank goodness we had this done. He said David had been in a tremendous amount of pain based on the way his ears looked. He said he did great and that he'd see us in two weeks.

The next thing we knew we heard a child screaming down the hallway and that was my angel. Poor thing. They wouldn't let me have him... they told me to go sit in a chair in the room. Once I got there and they handed him to me I realized why they wouldn't let me have him. He was going crazy. But... that is very normal. He screamed and squirmed for about 30 mintues. I have a video of it, but I will spare you. (If your child ever has to have this, let me know and I will send you this video so you know what to expect.)

Anyway, now he is great. We are at home. I am blogging...not cleaning like I should be, and David is sleeping soundly after playing for a while. Here he was about twenty minutes ago...

For those of you asking yourself...should my child get tubes? Yes.

Mother's Day

I had the most wonderful first Mother's Day!! I woke up to my sweet husband and my precious little boy! I couldn't ask for more. I got a date night with Matthew and from David I got a lot of plants that he and daddy planted together.
We went to church and then met the entire Henig crew for lunch at the Country Club. There were about 25 of us! We spent the afternoon with Matthew's family. I was a wonderful day!

I am assuming you have guessed by now that the internship was a little more difficult that I had planned on. It wasn't the internship but the papers that went along with it. I thought I had finished all of my papers and then two of the big ones snuck up on me. Well, enough about that. It is OVER!! Yea!! I finished my internship last Friday and I graduated Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. I was in the hospital at the time awaiting Jennifer (Henig) Trott's (my cousin) baby. They did not find out what they were having and it was so much fun. For those of you who do not know... she and Bobby had a healthy baby BOY!! Robert Barnes Trott "Barnes." I love the name!

As far as David goes... we are at it again. We have ANOTHER ear infection. We were supposed to get tubes this past Tuesday, but Saturday, Sunday, and Monday he started running a fever, which, at times was 104. We took him in and they decided to do an eardrum test. They said his eardrums had so much fluid that they wouldn't even move. Poor baby! So, we postponed the surgery and put him on another antibiotic. We are set up to go in Monday to check him out and Tuesday for the surgery. We will all be much happier once these tubes get in place!

He is such a "big" boy these days. As far as attitude, yes! As far as growth, no. The precious little angel has already shown me that he is going to have a temper like his daddy. Don't get me wrong... he is so sweet! I have just LOVED being home with him and it's only been four days! But, he does pitch his fits if he doesn't have something he wants. He is pretty defiant too. I hear that little boys are like that though. It's funny because I can remember seeing little boys pitch fits with their mommies and saying, "my child will not act like that." Now I can say that I have certainly not taught him to pitch a fit, nor do I let him do it. But I can't help that he does it. So, sorry to all you mommies that I said that about. It's not your fault. Now, if you don't do anything about it... then it is! :) David hasn't grown much. He is still around 16 or 17 lbs. Thank goodness!! I don't think I could carry him in that carrier if he was any bigger! :) He is just a sweet, little bundle of joy!

Matthew took this video. It was pretty funny. We were in the kitchen and David would come looking for us and just start laughing. Another belly laugh! He has given us wonderful belly laughs since he was 4 months old... and he's still going! :)



We were at the lake with Mandie and Brian and their little girl, Harlie. Harlie decided she would introduce David to some of her "moves." Oh no... Brian better watch out!

We had a very fun Easter. The Easter bunny came to see us in the morning. At lunch we went to Big and Gainie's and then we had a huge Easter egg hunt at Boom Pa and DeDe's!

This was on Saturday when he started acting like he didn't feel good. For an almost eleven month old who is non-stop... this was all he wanted to do for three days. My poor baby!



Here is David in the doctor's office on Monday...when we found out he was on ear infection number 9!



If you live in Montgomery, you know that the city flooded today. I had a doctor's appointment at 10:30 to get some x-rays on my wisdom teeth that have to come out. (Another long story... yes, wisdom teeth just now coming in at 27 years old.) I was on my way to take David to my dad's office so they could watch him while I was at my appointment. I didn't realize the rain was as bad as it was. To make a very long story short, I started driving down Vaughn Road. It was totally flooded. I turned around and headed towards Ryan Road and the interstate. It was totally flooded. I was going to turn around and head back home, but the road to home was blocked off and flooded too. I headed down Atlanta Highway...it was awful. There were cars in the middle of water with people stuck in them. The water was up to the windows and people were inside. I was so scared. Mainly because I had David with me and I wasn't sure what I would do if I got stuck or swept away. I veered off Atlanta Hwy towards Bell Road. Well, it was flooded too. There were four cars stuck in the middle. I turned down Monticello... my last resort to a way out and it was flooded. There were four cars stuck in the road... kids were hanging out the windows and parents were trying to get their doors open to get out. It was so scarey. Needless to say, I freaked out. Truly... I had a breakdown. I just thought I was never going to get out of there with David. It was awful. I laugh now, but it wasn't funny. Note to self: Don't get out in the rain...the bad rain. Just don't! I ended up pulling off into a parking lot and then trudged through the water that was up to my windows. It was so frightening, but I made it through and to my dad's office were I stayed until the sun came out.

Anyway, here are some pictures of David... post trauma in the waters. Obviously the water didn't bother him!

It's coming...

I get many "hate" emails telling me to update my blog. I am so sorry!!! I have gotten awful at this. School has taken a number on me. If I ever have a minute of "me" time, I am working on a paper for school. I just finished my last one... or so I think. (There is always that last one that sneaks up on me.)

I promise I will update with Easter and 9 month pictures this weekend... probably Sunday night or at least before David turns 10 months! By the way, only 21 days left of my internship!

Also, I know what you are thinking... she could be writing a pretty good blog right now instead of telling us all of this stuff! :) Actually, I am uploading all my pictures and video from the last month. So, I will stick a few pictures in here to hold you until my update.
