David, Shot, Me and "The BOB"

About two weeks ago, I started working out again. I have to get into a bridesmaids dress for my brothers wedding in two weeks! I have to get rid of this bulge on my gut. Anyone have any magical potions for getting rid of it?? I went two weeks ago with Mandie and she basically killed me. She is not only my best friend, but she is also a nutritionist and a dietition. Lucky me! I met her at Wynlakes and she showed me what to do to get this body back in shape...it was great, but I couldn't walk the next day and my chest hurt so bad that it was hard to pick up David.

Well, that was my start. I can't say that I have been doing it like I should, but I have been doing, at least something, everyday. Lucky for me, I have another great friend, Kellie Clements, who let me borrow her "BOB" stroller. David loves it!!

This weekend, my sister is at the beach for Alexia's (future sister-in-law) bachelorette party and Matthew and my dad are in Biloxi for my brother's bachelor party. So, mom, David, Lou, Shot, Coean (my sister's dog), and I came up to the lake for the weekend. This morning David and I woke up around 6 a.m. We ate breakfast and then got dressed for our morning walk/run. I put some sunscreen on David's arms and legs, put the leash on Shot and headed out. It was amazing. Not the walk, but the view. I just walked and stared in awe of how amazing the world around me was. I don't see how you can look around and not believe that God exists. The sun was rising, the temp. was about 70 degrees, there was an amazing breeze, the lake was on both sides of me, the birds were singing to each other, and I had my dog and my son with me. What more could I ask for?? I guess you could say my husband, but that wasn't an option today. :)

I'll have to post a picture of David in the BOB, but I'll have to do that tomorrow.

"Minutes"

Today I was sitting at my house, holding my screaming child, while my sister read me an email that our mom had sent us. I had actually read it in a "speedy" fashion yesterday, but David started crying halfway through, so I never finished. It was an email about reducing stress as a Christian. It listed about 30 different ways like laughing, being kind to an unkind person, talking less and listening more, sitting on your ego, etc. The very last point on the email caught my attention.

It said:
"Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before."

Wow...It's strange, but true. The first thing that came to my mind were minutes. Yes, minutes, like on the clock. I actually said it outloud to my sister and she looked at me like I was crazy. I guess I would have done the same thing seven weeks ago...before I had David.
I have come to realize that time is SO precious. I love the time I am able to spend with David. I love the time I am able to spend with Matthew. I love the time I am able to spend with my family, friends, and of course, I can't leave him out...Shot (my dog). BUT...I LOVE the time I am able to spend with myself. I have so many thoughts that go through my head. So many things I want to do, want to say, people I want to call, books I want to read, places I want to go. The key word in all of these is "WANT." I don't really get to do that, any of it anymore. Don't get me wrong... this isn't a "feel sorry for Jessica" blog. I have come to realize that "minutes" are a precious thing. When David finally falls asleep in the morning, after I have fed him, I literally have minutes to get done what I need to get done. It may be just a record fast shower, or going to the bathroom, or fixing my breakfast, responding to an email, paying a bill, or just closing my eyes. Those minutes are the most wonderful thing in the world. Tonight I am going to thank God for providing minutes to moms. :)

Thank you Lord!

Big's 54th Birthday

Last week we celebrated my dad's ("Big") birthday. The whole family went to the Country Club to eat dinner for "Lobster Night." It was, if you know my family then you know what I am talking about, a typical "Henig" dinner. Total chaos. I love my family...we are so close, but we are about as open and comfortable with each other as we can be. There aren't many manners that go around and things that are thought are usually said. Don't get me wrong...we are sane and we aren't crazy...trust me...we are pretty entertaining. There is never a dull moment. For starters, we are eating in the "MAIN DINING ROOM" where a coat is required. Well, guess which family shows up with no coat. Yes, that would be ours. But it's okay because Dad says it is. :) Next, who is the family that shows up with a 6 week old, who has colic, and screams from the hours of 9-11 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. Yes, that would be us again!

I am making this sound like it was a disaster. Surprisingly, it wasn't. It was very fun and, of course, entertaining. There were many events that occured in the three hour dinner and I must give you an idea of what they were.
Well, for starters, Dad turned 54 and managed to make it through the night, happy. My dad's best friend, Ward (the "older" gentleman in the pictures) got a little too drunk and decided to serenade the entire "MAIN DINING ROOM."

David was actually VERY GOOD!!!!!! I was so proud of him... we all passed him around, but he was great. He normally is very good, but this was his prime "witching" hour and he did just fine.

We got some great pictures of my sweet grandmother, Nana, and her boyfriend eating their lobsters.

I got my first, yes, sadly, my first, picture with David, by myself. It wasn't very good, but I got it!

Oh, and the week before, we celebrated my grandmother's birthday. At the same place, the "MAIN DINING ROOM," without our coats, with our same loud family and with a 5 week old! Here are some pictures from that night.

David out and about...

The last few weeks have been very busy for all of us! Actually, since David has been born, we've been on the go. Yes, some think I am crazy, but I must say that it has helped me keep my sanity. Since David's been born, we have been to the lake every single weekend. As tough as it is to basically pack up my entire house and head to the lake...we have gotten some great pictures out of our trips! Here are a few:

Well, this weekend, it's off to the lake again! Maybe I'll be able to get out in the sun this time! Yeah right.
